There's no doubt that the people who compete at the paralympics deserve our respect and admiration. In many cases they must go through a lot of physical and mental pain to be able to take part in their individual sports and I take my hat off to them.
But, but - like the Brazilians, I'm afraid I don't enjoy watching disabled sports. If I was watching the 100 metres run by blokes all with one leg, I could understand and appreciate it. But when you've got competitions between athletes with different disabilities then I just can't get my head around it .
I love my sport, but I'm sorry to say I've not watched any of this paralympics.
Perhaps I'm missing out on something. Tell me if I am.

I enjoy it, as I like to see the poor sods filled with pure unbridled joy at winning a medal, considering basically some of them have probably had fucking awful lives without being able to do what we can.
I mean Sophie Christiansen looks so fucked up by her Cerebal Palsy, that I'm amazed she can sit on a horse, let alone win gold at the past 3 Paralympics.
Her joyous face made me happy.
And they are also a lot more humble than their able bodied brethren and so I like hearing them interviewed.
That Johnny Peacock seems like a great bloke.
Yes though, some of the events aren't a brilliant spectacle.

I went in 2012 and enjoyed it but some of the sports don't really work for me. wheelchair rugby being the main one

I agree. It's very narrow minded. But I am just being honest.
I think we all got pumped up in 2012 as it was in London and was a success blah blah blah. Great.
But I just find watching this after the actual Olympic's is a bit like eating cheap mince after a Rib-Eye steak and saying it's just as nice. It isn't. A lot of it is utterly boring as a spectacle.
I'm not saying it's not competitive and the competitors are mentally stronger and much better people than me.
And I do watch F1 (hahaha) But only the highlights.

Im not a viewer either in general. Did watch a race and thought surely the dutch girl running on 2 springy blades has too unfair an advantage than someone running with 1 blade?

Have enjoyed watching Malone knock Pistorious off his perch as fastest blade runner, but I have really struggled to watch a lot of it.
Not quite understanding the classifications doesn't help though, because I watched some blind judo the other night.
They had to each player onto the mat and walk them into the centre where they helped them place their hands on the other players tunic.
This one dude flipped the other bloke in about 10 seconds and walked off looking at the camera and pointing at it and smiling, while all the other players walked off waving blindly to where they thought the crowd were.

Bit of a narrow minded view to take Russ. I've watched quite a lot because it's competitive, just like the Olympics is. Maybe you're just a boring bastard, bet you watch F1.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. It's fucking boring. Fair play to them and massive respect for them overcoming a disability to achieve good performance in a sport. But as a spectacle it's fucking turgid.
It's almost like, why would you watch this when you've just watched the best in the world do the same sports? Is it because they are disabled and people feel obliged to watch it?
Not being controversial. Just saying, fair play to them but as a sporting spectacle it's fucking boring. And the empty seats all over the place are proof that I am not the only one who thinks it.

some of those swimming categories need sorting out. There are swimmers with full working bodies out there against folk with limbs missing!

I think this has been brilliant yet again. Some fantastic finals, and refreshing to see so many gracious winners/losers too. Superb stuff.
Still don't think Alex Brooker is very funny though!

One of the javelin throwers has one arm.
Well to be more precise she doesn't have a hand on one of them.
She throws the javelin with the arm she has a hand on.

In a distance race, or anything over 400m, you usually run to beat the opposition rather than a time and don't sprint your fastest the whole way round it's much more tactical, and the race can be purposely slowed.
